Masters Div 1 side into the Semi Final of the World Cup

Melville Masters (Div 1), representing England(and Japan) have progressed through the group stage of the 2K09 Perth Amateur Soccer World Cup tournament at Lathlain Oval.

Victories over Vietnam and Australia and a narrow loss to South Africa means the team will now front Turkey in a semi final contest to be played on 5 December, KO 15:15. Winners will face either 2007 winners Spain or South Africa in the final to be played Sunday 6 December KO 10:00.

Coach (and Club president) Grahame Davis comments “ I believe our team has the quality to go on and win the trophy but we need to be on our game and carry that little bit of luck you need in tournament football.”

The tournament been running since 1991 & has 3 levels of competition, being for Junior’s, Seniors and Masters. Melville City has placed a team of masters in the last 5 years, having been beaten finalists once before we are hoping to go one better this year!!
